Job Description The Business Developer is a new product sales-focused position. The position facilitates the creation of new business though the development, commercialization and sale of new products, into new and existing customers and markets. The individual in this position drives initiatives that grow Rembrandt Foods’ segments and value while creating competitive advantages within the marketplace and acts as the commercialization and business case owner for assigned products and applications. The Business Developer builds new markets for new products, and aids in the evaluation of the potential and practicality of products in development. The Business Developer will be focused on the creation of incremental value by achieving specialty ingredient sales goals. Required Skills Sales Focused: • Delivers profitable sales by taking ownership of new projects/products and driving sales thru to completion/commercialization • Coordinates and supports product launches and is responsible for the sales function for these new products including making customer visits and presentations, contract development and management, handling customer issues, using CRM. • Assists in the profitable inventory management of Nutritional ingredients • Assists in training Ingredient Sales team and prepares them for the transition of sales responsibilities after securing a successful product/application launch • Optimizes revenue from Rembrandt Foods’ by-products by utilizing internal and external resources, Stage Gate New Product Development and financial insights • Participates in industry-related trade shows such as IFT, SSW, and NPEW Marketing and Business Development: • Participates in driving products through the development process from inception to launch, making certain new products are on-time and in spec, and the delivery chain is fully enabled by collaborating with Marketing, Sales, Research and Development, outside vendors and partners • Nurtures and develops new markets (Paleo, clean label, sports/aging/medical nutrition, etc.) for new and/or existing products • Develops and maintains a strong network of alliance partners, co-packers, ingredient suppliers, customers and academia • Assists in the related activities such as media planning and budgets, clinical research and marketing research • Facilitates and documents innovation thru the Stage Gate process, producing robust new product innovation one-pagers; Originates new product ideas in concert with customer needs, market opportunities, other team members and Rembrandt Foods’ business model • Collaborates with sales, marketing, technical operations, R&D, business development and other departments to determine competitiveness of new technologies and/or business, and to develop new products; must be a “team player”. • Establishes direction, goals and processes for each part of the new product development pipeline. • Conducts market research, surveys, and field visits to understand and specify business requirements for target market segments (sports nutrition, wellness, aging and medical nutrition) • Develops and implements go-to-market plans, partnering strategies, product positioning, product briefs, sales training, and competitive analysis • Capable of inspiring co-workers to creatively develop and commercialize new concepts, models and products, and of managing co-workers and sub-ordinates in Applications, Innovation, and Business Development Required Experience • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or life sciences. • 5+ years’ experience in sales, marketing, or product management role • 3+ years of nutritional / food ingredient sales experience • Must have a good technical understanding of food science, nutrition and basic chemistry. • Familiarity with the IP process, and the keen ability to use IP to generate growth and business results. • Demonstrable creative problem-solving skills which can produce Business Development opportunities • Strategic thinking and a demonstrated ability to provide and articulate the future vision for Business Development • Knowledge and understanding of key economic drivers of a successful manufacturing business • Must be a high energy “hunter”; strongly motivated to meet and exceed sales goals. • Ability to understand complex technical issues and understand impact on projects, and effectively communicate these issues and impact to direct reposts as well as other project stakeholders • Proven leadership ability to influence, develop and empower coworkers to achieve objectives with a team approach • Excellent Communication skills as it relates to disseminating and gathering information to staff and management and marketing to prospective customers and /or business partners • Successful communication with, and alignment of, cross functional team within the corporation to improve company execution and performance • Ability to read, understand and effectively communicate information through writing and speaking • Logical/Analytical, including ability to determine and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid and logical conclusions • Ability to collect, analyze, compile, interpret and distribute various reports • Independent Self-Starter/Team Player • Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet • Ability to travel in and out of the US - up to 50% travel We offer a competitive base salary along with an annual performance bonus, a 401K, health insurance, and much more.
